Sinkhole privacy policy
This policy explains what information the game Sinkhole (Android package
uk.co.tarnsoftware.dropper) handles, why, and the choices you have. Sinkhole is made by
Tarn Software Ltd ("we", "us"), the data controller for the purposes of UK and EU data protection law.

The short version
- You do not create an account. We do not run servers that store information about you.
- Your progress, coins and settings are saved only on your device.
- The game shows adverts through Unity's LevelPlay and Unity Ads. They use your device's advertising ID and other device information to show and measure adverts. Adverts are only personalised if you agree, and you can change your mind at any time in the game's settings.
- Purchases are handled by Google Play. We never see your payment details.
- Sinkhole is not directed at children under 13.
Information saved on your device
The game saves your progress, coins, boosters, unlocked items, settings, your advertising choice, and a record of completed purchases (the store's order identifiers, so a purchase is never delivered twice) in the game's storage on your device. This information does not leave your device and is not sent to us. Uninstalling the game deletes it.
Advertising
Sinkhole is free and is funded partly by adverts. Adverts are provided by LevelPlay, Unity's advert mediation service, and Unity Ads, both from Unity Technologies. When the game requests, shows or measures an advert, these services receive information such as:
- your device's advertising ID (a resettable identifier provided by Android);
- your IP address, and an approximate location derived from it;
- device and app information (device model, operating system version, language, app version);
- how you interact with adverts (for example views and taps).
They use it to deliver adverts, limit how often you see the same one, measure performance, and detect fraud.
Your choice. The first time you play, the game asks whether adverts may be personalised to you. If you say no, you still see adverts, but they are not targeted using your information. You can change your choice at any time in the game's settings. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android device settings (Settings > Privacy > Ads, or Settings > Google > Ads, depending on your device).
Unity's own handling of this information is described in the Unity Game Player and App User Privacy Policy.
A one-time purchase in the game removes the adverts shown between levels. Adverts you choose to watch for a reward remain available.
Purchases
In-app purchases are optional and are processed by Google Play under Google's privacy policy. We never receive your card or payment details. To deliver what you bought, the game receives from Google Play the product and an order identifier, and keeps the order identifier on your device as described above. The purchase system is Unity In-App Purchasing, which may send technical information about purchases to Unity Technologies for diagnostics.
Analytics and crash reports
Sinkhole does not currently use analytics or crash-reporting services of its own. If that changes, we will update this policy before the change reaches the game.
Why we can use your information
- Consent, for personalised adverts. You can withdraw it at any time in the game's settings.
- Legitimate interests, for showing non-personalised adverts that fund the free game, preventing fraud, and keeping the game working.
- Contract, for delivering purchases you make.
How long information is kept
Information saved by the game stays on your device until you uninstall it. Information received by Unity or Google is kept according to their own policies, linked above.
International transfers
Unity and Google may process information outside the UK and the European Economic Area. Where they do, they rely on safeguards recognised by UK and EU law, such as standard contractual clauses.
Children
Sinkhole is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has used the game and information about them has been collected, contact us and we will help.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete information about you, to object to or restrict its use, and to withdraw consent. Because we do not hold information about you on our own systems, most requests are best handled by changing your advertising choice in the game, resetting your advertising ID, or contacting Unity or Google directly. You can always contact us at info@tarnsoftware.co.uk, and we will help.
If you are in the UK, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). In the EU, you can complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the game handles information, we will update this page and its effective date. Significant changes will also be noted in the game's release notes.
